The Queen Of Rock 'n' Roll

Everyone knows that Tina Turner is the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll hands down, but that didn't just happen overnight. She worked her way from being a shy, poor southern girl to a Rock'n'Roll legend.
Here is her story.

Tina Turner was born, Anna Mae Bullock. On November 26,1939 in Brownsville, Tennessee. Her mother and older sister left her at a very young age to be raised by her grandmother in Nutbush because of the physical abuse her father put her mother through. In 1956, at the age of 16, her grandmother died and she went to live with her mother and sister in St. Louis. This is where she was introduced to R&B or better yet Ike Turner's 'Kings of Rhythm'. Soon after, she left her gospel roots behind for R&B and even got on stage and sang with Ike and the band. He noticed her incredible, powerful voice. As time passed they became inseparable. She stared to sing with Ike and the band. They recorded "A Fool In Love" and when that came to be a hit, Ike encouraged her to change her name from Anna Mae to Tina Turner. Tina and Ike then got married in Mexico in between the births of her two sons. Ike was already a father of two from a previous relationship.

Soon they were onto their next hit in the mid-1960's. Their music wasn't getting off of the small R&B charts so they decided to step it up. That's when they started to go on touring acts which included Ray Charles and James Brown. They also had several hits in the 70's, along with an incredible cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Rolling on the River' featuring Tina's 'We never, ever do nothing nice and easy' intro.

Tina finally made her cross-over in 1966, with "River Deep, Moutain high". Produced by Phil Spectre, this was the first time that Tina stepped into the spotlight without Ike by her side. The song flopped in the U.S but did very well in Europe, even topping the British charts at #3 and bringing Tina Turner superstar status.
That's when Tina became the toast of London, worshipped by rock bands like The Rolling Stones, she was even featured in The Who's movie 'Tommy' as 'The Acid Queen', winning her even more critical acclaim and raising her far above The Ike and Tina Turner Revue.

Her success made Ike very jealous. He was already known as a drug-addicted, wife-beater, but this got him out of control. Ike beat her to the point of near death. Life spiralled out of control for Tina. She became very depressed and attempted suicide.

When she got better, the band was over. And they blamed it on her. This finally made Tina angry enough to run from Ike and file for divorce. She left him with only 36 cents in her pocket and a gas credit card. All she asked for in the divorce settlement was ownership of her stage name, still Ike didn't even want to give her that. The judge ruled in her favor adding to Ike's seething hatred. His threats on her life continued.

Yet, this wasn't the end for her but a new beginning! Tina finally got to do what she wanted to do,"Rock 'n' Roll". She appeared on Olivia Newton-John:Hollywood Nights in 1980. This is when Rodger Davies started to manage her. Tina shortly after released a cover of Al Green's "Let's Stay together", in 1983. This was a major turning point in her career. The record was on the Top 10 for months in the U.K. She soon recorded a full album, "Private Dancer". The next single and one of her biggest hits,"What's Love Got to Do With It?". Which was number 1 on the U.K charts. She made history when she won her first Grammy Award in 1985 for "Best female rock vocal performance". She won again in 1986, 87, and 89.

After that she wrote the autobiography " What's Love Got To Do With It?" , in 1993.
Now, I don't know about you but that is one of the hardest working women EVER! I love her so much. I know when I get down I watch that movie and listen to her songs and I start to think, 'My life isn't that bad!'

Thank you Tina for your strength, you have really led the way for all women.

A Blonde Murder

For many of years there's always been a question on every beauty's mind. What really happened to the biggest sex symbol "Marilyn Monroe"? People say a suicide! A drug overdose. Yes, but was it really a suicide?
Marilyn Monroe was born June 1,1926, in the Los Angles General hospital. Named Norma Jean Mortensen. He mother worked as a film-cutter, being a widow and insane. She put Marilyn in a foster home, were she was in and out of intel she turn 16 and got married to her first husband(out of three), James Dougnerty on June 19,1942. They divorced on September 13,1946. In those few years she began modeling for 5 dollars. Marilyn started to study acting. 20th Century Fox gave her a contract which was over in the next year. But in 1948 she got a 6 month contract with Columbia. Later she got her first part in a small B movie "Ladies of the Chorus" . In 1950, Joseph Mankiewicz saw here and put here in "All About Eve". 20th Century re-signed her a 7 year contract. That was the years that she got big. Marilyn was than named the biggest sex symbol. She than married big baseball star Joe Dimaggio on January 14, 1954. That held for 9 months, they were divorced on October 27,1954.
After they divorced, Marilyn wanted to get away from her Sex ,blonde bomeshell image and went to New York's Actors Studio were she met director Lee Strasberg. Having time to under go psychoanalysis to find herself, she was soon back on stage with a new outlook. That year 1956 she came out in "Bus stop". Which lead her to her next marriage to Arthur Miller on June 29, 1956, which ended January 20 1961. After that she started to have a love intrerst with John F. Kennedy. That soon ended because he was a married man, but she didn't move that far from him. Not far at all. She started to she his brother Robert Kennedy. Life seemed well for her, but it wasn't. She was working on "Something's Got to Give", but that was dropped due to her chronic lateness and drug dependency to sleeping pills.
Now, in my opinion, I don't believe that she took her own life no matter what. There was someone who didn't want her to be with Bobby Kennedy. Marilyn was very beautiful, and smart. Which did spark some negative problems. The calls she was getting the day she died are very spooky to me. Marilyn was going though a rough time also which can lead us to believe that the blonde bomeshell did commented suicide. Just look at her history before you think. She had everything! Marilyn was the person that every man wanted to be with and every women wanted to be! If I was her I wound'nt of took my own life. The evidence says that she didn't take her own life. The calls,The pills that weren't prescribed to her, She even called her best friend that night for her to bring some! Marilyn was murdered it wasn't a suicide to me. Now you tell me what you think.

Just words

I'm thinking about writing my own book soon about my life and it wont be done for a long time because I'm going to add on to it as I go through life. I cant understand how people are your friends at one time and the next they're not. Too much drama.

Lately, I've been workin my ass off just trying to get to winter break! Well, that's about as much I'm going to get through tonight because I'm tired and want to sleep>

Everyone in Everything

Today I came home and I stared to sing. I've always known that I could sing but I was too shy to sing in front of anyone, and now I sing in the mall, in the hallways at school, and (my favorite) my room. I think it's because of Arthur. I don't sing around people that I don't know, so then one day I stared to sing in front of Arthur just because I could and he said that I have a beautiful voice. Since then I felt more comfortable singing in front of people and because of that I could be the next Jessica Simpson!
Well got to go
